As the new head of fundraising, a big hello from me. What many of you may not know is that ORUK is a registered Charity, passionate to support our community of people affected by MSK conditions and those dedicating their lives to supporting them. Of course with the scale and breadth of MSK conditions many of us affected are also those dedicating our lives to preventing, treating and researching this Cinderella of causes.

In the last newsletter Arash told you about the sale of JRI, this will contribute much needed money to our charitable spend on essential areas including investment in voluntary fundraising.  We must increase our spend if we are to improve and enhance attention on MSK issues whilst focusing on raising awareness of their impact amongst the population. In 2016/17, 8.9m working days were lost due to MSK disorders: www.hse.gov.uk/statistics/dayslost.htm – isn’t it time the impact of this was widely known? No one needs to suffer alone.

As someone with a close personal connection to MSK disorders I am excited to join ORUK to bring about a new era of accessing essential funds. In the coming months I look forward to sharing with you our plans for delivering essential funds to support the needs of the MSK community. Meanwhile there are plenty of ways to support our work including challenge events, online donations or by simply shopping at Amazon and donating via Amazon Smile.
