Robert acted, as a Solicitor, for Mr and Mrs Furlong and after the death of Mr Furlong was asked to become a trustee of the Furlong Research Charitable Trust. He was instrumental in changing the Trust to a Foundation,as a company limited by guarantee,when the Charity,was the principal beneficiary of the joint estates of Mr and Mrs Furlong. He became the Chairman of the Board in 2010.
Robert retired after 50 years (and 26 days) with RadcliffesLeBrasseur having been Head of the Private Client Department (with responsibility for their Charity practice), Managing Partner and Senior Partner. In retirement, he has remained a trustee of several family trusts. He has recently stood down from chairing a sub-committee of The Arnold Foundation of Rugby School and is actively involved with Richmond Rugby Club,where he was President in its 150th year and currently chairs the holding company, Richmond Rugby Ltd.
Robert lives in Chelsea and attempts to go to Hyde Park every day on a fruitless squirrel chasing exercise with two energetic Jack Russells.
