Overview

Course convenor: Mr Sunil Bajaj, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust.

Target audience: Candidates preparing for the FRCS (Orth) examinations, and trainees who are in their earlier years of training and would like to gain viva preparation experience.

This course is designed for candidates taking the FRCS (Orth) examination, part 2 and consists entirely of mock viva sessions. It will provide you with the opportunity to refine and test your orthopaedic knowledge in regards to the foot and ankle, practise your exam technique, and clarify any issues with an experienced faculty.

Orthopaedic basic science for the postgraduate examination: practice MCQs and EMQs

Designed for trainees preparing to sit the written section of the FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent examination. Whilst much of the general orthopaedic curriculum is often learnt from clinical exposure, knowledge of the basic sciences frequently requires more specific attention. Drawing partly on material from the hugely successful Orthopaedic Research UK courses, this book simultaneously provides a tool for assessing knowledge levels and a means of rapidly assimilating detailed facts. The authors are all approaching, or have achieved completion of higher surgical and fellowship training, but have sufficiently recent experience of postgraduate orthopaedic examinations to ensure that the questions are representative of the level and scope required.

Designed for trainees preparing to sit the oral section of the FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent examination. There is a temptation for exam preparation to focus all too heavily on pure knowledge acquisition at the expense of practising viva technique. This book therefore aims to stimulate a more problem-based approach through the use of mock vivas, as well as encouraging candidates to practise drawing out and labelling the diagrams frequently asked by examiners. Mr Sunil Bajaj, Consultant Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon, Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust

Mr Sunil Kumar Bajaj is a consultant paediatric orthopaedic surgeon, at Lewisham and Greenwich NHS Trust. He gained his specialist training in South East London and completed paediatric orthopaedic fellowships at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and RNOH, Stanmore. Throughout his career, he has been actively involved in teaching registrars and is highly acclaimed in the region for his teaching abilities.

He is regularly invited as a faculty on various FRCS orthopaedic courses including the Chesterfield FRCS (Orth) course, Miller orthopaedic course, UK, King’s FRCS Ortho course and the Evelina paediatric trauma course.
