Funding research lies at the heart of all we do.
We exist to advance understanding of orthopaedic science. We do this by funding important research, publishing that research and collaborating with centres of orthopaedic excellence.
Our reach is wide. Some of our funded research broadens general scientific knowledge. Other projects target specific disorders. Where appropriate, we support work into controversial areas.
As a proud member of the Association of Medical Research Charities (AMRC), we follow their peer review guidelines for reviewing research proposals submitted to us.
We fund research at different levels, whether PhD, MD, Post Doctoral or clinical fellowship. Over the years we have built firm links with the academic institutions which drive new thinking in our field. Since 2004 we have supported over 80 research projects.
Funding decisions are made by our trustees on the recommendation of our scientific advisory committee (SAC), comprising foremost professors, scientists and orthopaedic surgeons.
Important notice:
We are currently in the process of changing our reviewing and submission system. We will be launching an integrated on-line system called "ORUK Link" within the next few weeks. This system will be used for the 1st call in 2012.
Please do not submit your proposals using the existing system until further notice.
